Johnson City, TENN. – In 2016, Johnson City will have its first Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel located in front of the Courtyard Inn by Marriott, adjacent to Buffalo Wild Wings in Johnson City, Tennessee off Hamilton Place Drive.
Johnson City Hotel Partners, LLC (JCHP) signed the franchise agreement on December 1, 2014. JCHP is a development partnership between Mitch Cox Companies in Johnson City and M. Gibson Hotels in Knoxville.
“There is a lot of local interest in bringing a Fairfield to Johnson City because it is Marriott’s most popular limited-service product,” said Philip Cox of Mitch Cox Companies.
While the nearest Fairfield is located thirty-eight miles away in Boone, NC, a Fairfield Inn & Suites is opening in Bristol, TN in March 2015, according the company’s website. There are over 700 Fairfield Inn and Suites worldwide.
Michael Gibson, founder of M. Gibson Hotels — a preferred Marriott ownership group with seven Marriott hotels in Tennessee, said, “Having seen the increase in market demand, M. Gibson Hotels is excited to joint venture with Mitch Cox Companies to bring a new Marriott prototype to the growing Johnson City market.”
The 90-room hotel will be built on a section of 5.18 acre tract, leaving an outparcel of 1.66 acres of usable land still available for sale or lease. The Johnson City Fairfield Inn & Suites will be the newest Fairfield prototype — the Generation 4 Model.
The Gen 4 Model is Marriott’s hotel solution for traveling millennials designed with a health club, fitness gym, and fiber optic Internet connectivity.
Construction will begin in May 2015 with the intent to open doors in February 2016.
