Construction

Ben Dutton is the President of Construction and Development.  Ben brings more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and construction and holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.

Ben is a highly experienced, successful, and well-regarded business leader.  Previously, Ben’s career took him from Phoenix, Arizona, where he served as a Division Executive for a large national homebuilder, to Alberta, Canada, where he served as the CEO of a large privately held General Contractor, and then COO of a privately held Real Estate development company.

Over the course of his career, Ben has overseen the development and/or construction of over $1.5 billion in real estate assets, from single family homes to conventional apartment complexes to mixed use high-rise developments.  The combination of his experience, culture, and drive makes him an ideal fit for Mitch Cox Companies next stages of growth.

In keeping with the mission of Mitch Cox Companies, Ben is active in the communities in which he lives, serving on boards including the United Way, UDI, YPO, Little Warriors and the Fort McMurray Airport Authority.

Ben, along with his wife Brandy and two children have lived in Johnson City since 2020 and have made it their permanent residence since 2022.

Connor Selfe serves as the director of multi-family construction for Mitch Cox Construction overseeing all multifamily projects across the Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina markets. He ensures each development is delivered with excellence, efficiency, and the attention to detail the company and clients demand. Known for his commitment of balancing production goals with uncompromising quality, Connor fosters a collaborative, positive team culture on every project.

Beginning his career with Mitch Cox Construction as project manager, Connor immediately oversaw the construction of nearly 2,000 new apartment units, and was key in delivering multiple high-quality communities, including Universal at Mockingbird Lane in Johnson City, Tennessee and Universal at Thompson Creek in Morristown, Tennessee. Connor brings a unique aspect to his role with the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the financial industry. He began his career in banking, and transitioned into the construction industry with a national builder in North Carolina. There he held several key positions before returning home to the Tri-Cities region in 2020, and joining the Mitch Cox family.

A native of Bristol, Virginia, Connor holds a degree in Economics from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, and brings more than a decade of diverse construction experience to his leadership role. He now resides in Bristol, Tennessee, with his wife, Alyson, and their two children, Sully and Rowan. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing as much golf as possible.

Ross Stockford serves as the senior project manager of multi-family and commercial construction divisions for Mitch Cox Construction.

Seth Rickard serves as the senior project manager of the hospitality construction division for Mitch Cox Construction.

Tim joined Mitch Cox Companies in April 2018 to become a team member with the multifamily construction department. Tim studied architecture and design and graduated from East Tennessee State University from the construction engineering program.

Tim met his wife Heather in college and has enjoyed living and working in east Tennessee since that time. He has worked for an aluminum storefront contractor in Kingsport, an interior design firm and a granite countertop manufacturer in Johnson City.

Tim brings his experience to Mitch Cox Multifamily to help build developments where individuals and families can enjoy living and creating a home in an attractive and thoughtfully planned community.

When he’s not working, Tim enjoys mountain biking, live music events with his wife and encouraging his two sons to discover and use their talents to serve others.
