Johnson City, TENN. – Masterpiece Mixers, a Georgia-based wine and painting franchise, is moving into the Roan at Unaka Center located at 101 East Unaka Avenue, Suite #6, Johnson City, next to Wok and Hibachi. Mitch Cox Realtors, Inc. coordinated with the owner, Elizabeth Greenwell, to find the space in early March of this year. Greenwell said the doors will open on May 15, 2014.

Masterpiece Mixers provides a venue for anyone interested to participate in a two-hour instructed painting class. The venue does not provide food nor drinks; rather, participants are encouraged to bring their own beverages, including wine or beer. All art supplies is provided and customers receive a 16×20 inch canvas to take home at the end of the night. The cost of a two-hour session is $25 per person.

The Masterpiece Mixers in Johnson City will be the brand’s seventh location and entrance into the Tennessee market. Currently, there are five locations in Georgia, one in Naples, Florida, and one in Easton, Massachusetts.

Krista Goodrich, founder of Masterpiece Mixers, opened her first studio in Braselton, Georgia in 2009, after burning out of a career in corporate finance.

Goodrich said, “I wanted to work with something I loved doing. A night out with friends was something I always enjoyed, but a bar leaves you empty-handed. Masterpiece Mixers provides a fun night out with friends and you come home with something to show for it.”

Also, Goodrich stressed the importance that customers do not have to be seasoned artists to sign up. She said, “Just as our slogan says, ‘It’s fun art, not fine art,’ you do not need to be an artist. It’s like bowling, I’m not good at it, but it’s still fun.”

Goodrich graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor’s of Arts in French. Goodrich and Greenwell are cousins.

Greenwell also graduated from ETSU with an education license to teach Kindergarten through the sixth grade. After being a stay-at-home mother for years, she can’t think of a better way to enter the work force.

“Masterpiece Mixers is a business that allows me to spend quality time with my family and still do what I love to do — teach,” Greenwell said. She continued saying that her vision sees Masterpiece Mixers as a positive environment for a girls-night-out, date night, birthday parties, and youth groups.”
