Next door to Mitch Cox Companies at the Silverdale Commons office park, global laboratory services firm LabConnect is expanding its offices to a total of 54,000 square feet.

Mitch Cox Construction, led by President Odell Cash, began renovation on Monday, February 5th, 2018 and is expected to finish in the end of July 2018.

“We are expanding due to the continued growth in our business and the desire to put in more sample processing capabilities, expand our biorepository, and modify our operating plan to gain greater efficiencies,” said Jonathan Stiegel, CFO at LabConnect.

Stiegel added that the expanded capacity creates room for the company’s hiring plan in Johnson City: 40 new jobs over the next 3-4 years.

“We were very happy with the construction from the first time around,” said Stiegel. “Mitch Cox Construction has an ability to get things done and so it made sense to continue working with them for this phase.”

Two former Silverdale tenants, Blue Bell Ice Cream and Amped Electric, moved their operations to Kimberly Court Plaza, another Mitch Cox property, to make room for the LabConnect expansion.
