The Chamber of Commerce, along with Mitch Cox Companies and M. Gibson Hotels, held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, June 23 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott off Hamilton Place Drive.
The event celebrated the recent opening of the hotel on May 15, 2016. Community members, local business men and women, and government officials were on-hand to commemorate the new hotel and its future impact on the Johnson City market.
“There is a lot of local interest in bringing a Fairfield to Johnson City because it is Marriott’s most popular limited-service product,” said Philip Cox of Mitch Cox Companies.
Michael Gibson, founder of M. Gibson Hotels — a preferred Marriott ownership group with seven Marriott hotels in Tennessee, said, “Having seen the increase in market demand, M. Gibson Hotels is excited to joint venture with Mitch Cox Companies to bring a new Marriott prototype to the growing Johnson City market.”
The 90-room hotel features many guest amenities including free high-speed internet, free breakfast, a fitness center, and a pool.
Tim Sponsler, Vice President of Lodging Development for Marriott International, said, “We’re pleased that Mitch Cox Companies and its hotel development partner, M. Gibson Hotels, selected the Fairfield Inn & Suites brand for this hotel project.” He continued, “The brand will provide consistency and quality service at an exceptional value to both the business and leisure travelers visiting Johnson City.”
Johnson City Hotel Partners, LLC (JCHP) signed the franchise agreement for the new hotel on December 1, 2014. JCHP is a development partnership between Mitch Cox Companies of Johnson City and M. Gibson Hotels of Knoxville.
