In October 2018, Doug Vicars was promoted to Vice President of Commercial Construction at Mitch Cox Companies, succeeding Odell Cash who left the company in October.
Doug Vicars has over 20 years of construction experience and was first hired at Mitch Cox Construction 12 years ago to build three hotels across three states, including the WoodSpring Suites in Boones Creek.
After the hotels, he worked on the cell tower business wing (now defunct) of Mitch Cox Construction for four years and then transitioned to the commercial construction division in 2015. Now with Vicars as VP, Mitch Cox Construction recently completed a 10-month expansion (+12,833 square feet) and remodel (11,000 square feet) project for LabConnect in Johnson City and is currently working with Ballad Health on a Surgery Center remodel project.
“Mitch Cox Construction has a strong name and great reputation in this area and I want to help continue that reputation,” said Vicars. “We have some great field employees who work hard to meet our deadlines and uphold the quality that people have come to expect from Mitch Cox Construction.”
“I feel very comfortable giving Doug the reins to grow our third-party construction efforts and I look forward to supporting him in that endeavor,” said Mitch Cox, founder and CEO of Mitch Cox Companies. “It may seem we only work on our own construction projects but more and more we’re doing third-party work and I’m pleased to have Doug lead in this initiative.”
Vicars is originally from Johnson City, where he lives with his wife, Samantha, and son, Chance. Doug and his family are all certified scuba divers and he is one of six partners of the Gray Quarry, a local place for scuba divers. He enjoys boating in the summers with his family on South Holston Lake.
